Teen Mom Becomes A Registered Nurse With NO Highschool Certificate

Reminiscing, I must have been 16 years old when I first thought about becoming a nurse. I was 18 when I gave birth to my daughter and had to drop out of school due to the lack of babysitting option. Tried making it back to high school 6 months later but had to drop out again for similar reasons.

I was still determined to become a nurse though. So I took the required high school courses online (ILC) for me to be able to enroll in college, since I never graduated high school. I was not sure if I would be able to commit to 4 years of continuous studying for the RN program.

Given that I was a single parent with lack of support, so I opted for the 2-year RPN program. At 25, I got in, gave it my best and to my surprise, graduated with a 4.0 GPA. At 30, here I am, finally doing the RN bridge program. Took me many years to get to where I wanted to be, but I never gave up.

Even now that am suffering from depression and taking a break from school, giving up is not an option for me. I know what I want, (Knowing what you want is the key!!!). I will get there eventually, it is just a matter of time. Hang in there you all! Will be back with part 2….
